Then, control the power head to rotate slowly. The pressurization speed is slow and continuous. The power head and the pressurization speed must match well. If the pressurization stroke is completed and the mudstone is not cut in, lift the power head again and continue drilling until the geological load rises, after that, the drilling should be continued. When the load is too heavy, the power head should be lifted to reduce the load, so as to protect the drilling rig components. When the load is reduced, it is necessary to continue to pressurize to prevent water or mud from entering the cut surface and reduce the friction coefficient.

3. Skid classification When drilling, due to the softening of mudstone, there will be two kinds of skidding phenomena, one is the bottom skidding, which is also called the skidding phenomenon of drilling mud layer. The other is mudstone skidding. Because mudstone is hard, it is difficult to drill and cut, but it skids under the lubrication of water or mud. There is a difference between the two skidding. Therefore, the skidding type must be distinguished to effectively deal.

Finally, it is very important to distinguish the two types of skidding from each other, and the treatment methods are also different. If the skidding of mudstone is softening and supporting the bottom, reverse the positive pressure to overcome it. If the skidding of mudstone is harder and water reduces the friction coefficient, it can be overcome through a series of integration methods mentioned above. Due to the difference of cementation material and weatherability, the strength of mudstone changes greatly, so not all mudstone can be used for cutting drilling.
